Why would my sewage drain be blocked?

A majority of the times, especially with older properties, the roots of trees can tamper with your sewage system and prevent it from running smoothly. Tree roots tend to gravitate towards sewage lines due to humidity, manoeuvring their way into splits in pipes. When this happens, roots are actually being housed in an environment where they are being fed with nutrient-rich deposits and, in turn, grow causing blockages. This then becomes a horrible mix when toilet paper and other associated waste gets caught up in these roots and water is unable to travel through your main sewage drain line.

Another key thing to note is that when paper towels, female sanitary products, facial wipes are flushed down your toilet, you heighten the chances of clogging your sewage. However, if these can be broken down well in advance, and your pipes have a wide enough diameter, it’s harder for these items to cause a blockage because they’d have to reaccumulate in their loose form to something quite sizeable.

If you want to overcome and/or prevent the likelihood of this occurring, you should contact us for an examination of your system. Our plumbers can review and apply the necessary fixes with minor disruption to you premises.
